How Long Chris Jericho Plans to Keep Wrestling

The master of reinvention in wrestling is likely going to have to reinvent himself a few more times, if he intends to keep wrestling over the next four or five years... which the Inaugural AEW World Heavyweight champion says he does. While speaking with GQ magazine, Jericho noted that he knows he's up there {when it comes to the age of many of today's top wrestling stars}, but he doesn't see any reason that he can't have a good few more years in him.

The comments come on the heels of the Uberstar of Jerichlean Proportions winning the ROH World Heavyweight Championship at Wednesday's historic Grand Slam episode of AEW Dynamite. The victory and title change was a shock for many fans, mostly because Chris has no real association with the Ring Of Honor brand. Still, he's a big name, a draw for ROH, and it appears Tony Khan is going to use his star power to elevate that brand. Chalk this one up as another way the First-Ever WWF Undisputed Champion is, once again, reinventing himself. His wrestling at ROH events is a new one.

Jericho noted that he doesn't have an issue with fans, when they claim he's holding others down as he wins important matches at the age of 51. He noted, "At 51, am I the best? No, but some nights I am," Jericho said. "And I'm one of the best every night." He intends to keep going and added, "I've had 32 great years. But f***, man, if I can reinvent myself and maybe have four or five more years wrestling at the highest of levels, why not do it?"

He's Reinvented His Lifestyle

One of the reasons fans shouldn't doubt his commitment is the recent body transformation he's gone through. Some health concerns forced the Former WWE World Heavyweight champion to make a change and he contends that is the real reinvention he's gone through. If he can do that at his age, there's not much he can't do.

"...it's a real reinvention, not just from a gimmick standpoint, but from a lifestyle standpoint," he said. "I'm very proud of it."
